The Next Generation Phone System

Back in 1997, Port-to-Port installed a new phone system. It was one of the leading computer based phone systems on the market. It integrated with the computer network to deliver voicemail via email or a website. We loved it! It ran successfully for a decade. A few months ago, we installed a new phone system. It’s one of the leading computer based phone systems on the market. It integrates completely with our computer network, using Voice Over IP phone sets. We don’t use any telephone wiring at all.

What They Say is Important to You

Every year about this time, technology industry magazines are filled with articles describing the new technologies that will have the greatest impact on your business in the coming year. They also discuss the technologies that are fading – either because everybody’s got it, or it has been usurped by one of the new ones. I’ve found that most of these predictions are about as accurate as my 1995 prediction that we’d all be talking to our computers by the year 2000. The crazy thing about the rapid pace of technology is that no one really knows what the next big thing will be. It’s hard for any of us to know that we want something that doesn’t exist. Ah, but when we see it, we wonder how we ever got along without it. Here are some of the things that my industry believes will impact your business next year.

1. Green technology. The focus here is on energy consumption. This is the next great hype since Y2K consulting. Now that Al Gore has a Nobel Prize, every American feels compelled to go green. The problem is that most of the newly labeled “green technology” is the same stuff with a new label. Chris Horn

Another Chris?  You bet!  Chris Horn joined the Port-to-Port family the first of October as a sales representative.

Coming to Port-to-Port Consulting seemed like a no-brainer for Chris.  He has known Damon Richards and Rob Glass his entire life – so when the opportunity presented itself, he knew it was right.  Chris is an Indianapolis native, graduating from Brownsburg High School.  He attended Ball State University and graduated with degrees in Marketing and Classical Cultures.

Chris has varied experiences in his background, and although he calls himself a “jack of all trades, but master of none” he believes he understands Pertingo and how to offer it’s benefits to new clients.  Chris was attracted to the one-to-one interactions we have with our clients, through the helpdesk and onsite visits.  He also likes the personal interest we take in our clients, and looks forward to getting to know everyone.  Chris has set some high goals for himself for the coming year, and would appreciate any referrals you could provide.

In his spare time Chris likes to play cards, and even though he participates in weekly poker tournaments, he’ll tell you his favorite card game is Euchre.  He also enjoys watching sports and is a movie aficionado.

Please join us in welcoming Chris Horn to the Pertingo family.  If you have any questions for Chris, or would like to speak with him, you can reach him at (317) 624-9380 extension 113, or via email at chrishorn@port-to-port.com.
