Does Anyone Know What Time it Is?
We're finishing our first week in the new, improved Daylight Saving Time period. For the record, it is Saving, not Savings time. This switch has not gone well in the world of computers. Perhaps it suffered the backlash of the Y2K hype since Congress approved the change in early August of 2005 and none of the software manufacturers did anything about it until just a few weeks ago. Contrast that to the end-of-civilization-as-we-know-it kind of response we heard about Y2K. Add to that the grief we Hoosiers suffered last year when we started observing Daylight Saving Time for the first time in decades and we're a bit edgy about what time it is, and even more edgy about what time our meetings are supposed to start.

What's the Deal About Voice Over IP?
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is the next species in the evolution of telephone service. It continues the slow but inevitable merger of telecommunication services. The phrase will eventually disappear like the phrase Touch Tone did.
Traditional telephone service is provided through a pair of wires that carry an analog signal to your traditional telephone set. The strange thing is that for most of the call's journey, it is in a digital format. In fact, only the wire between your office and your local telephone central office (called "the last mile" in telephone parlance) is analog.

Jonathan Werner
Have you noticed the changes in the Port-to-Port website? Those changes were implemented by Jonathan Werner - our Web Designer. Jonathan has been working hard updating the website, and has also designed a marketing campaign that is garnering lots of attention. He's even designed our new website - Pertingo.com. Check it out!
Jonathan is a native of Indianapolis. He is "the second middle child" and has always enjoyed sketching and drawing. In his spare time he enjoys art, movies and food, with his favorite local restaurants being Yat's and Bazbeaux's Pizza.
Aside from an internship at Cohesive Inc., Jonathan is self-taught. He enjoys working with our clients redesigning their websites to be both attractive and effective. Jonathan continues to expand his knowledge of design utilizing many of the tools available to web designers. Jonathan likes being a part of the Port-to-Port family because he finds Port-to-Port to be a small company with a big company mind - just no red tape.
